DAMBI DOLLS were originally designed and handmade in Lae, Papua New Guinea. Dambi is known as 4th Daughter. Each daughter has a traditional name and also a Christian name. Marjorie and her husband Nick chose to call their business by this name. Marjorie and Nick have five children and now have a thriving business making Dambi Dolls. This is a new concept in PNG, as there are no other soft rag /cloth dolls on the Market. I have had the privilege to help this family and friends who like many other families in PNG find everyday living hard. The Doll called Niimzii Kamah is named after a young man from Lae, PNG. Every time this doll is sold it will help this person to advance with his further education. He himself is an Artist and his paintings will also be sold through the web site. Buying and making these dolls yourself, you too are supporting these people of PNG. On returning to Australia, I decided to carry on making the Dolls. I now make PNG /Pacific, Australiana, using calico, silk and colored fabric. The P.N.G/Pacific Dolls accessories are manufactured in P.N.G. All the Dolls have their clothes sewn to the body, but can be unattached easily for cleaning etc. They are made for children over six years and adults for their home interior design. The Dolls suitable for children under six years will be advised with the Doll description. Each Doll measures 20ins/51cms. Please feel free to browse around my site. Thank You. Sue Clarke. |
